Question:
RealPlayer is unable to make a connection to the server. Why is that?
Answer:
If you are connecting from work to view online lectures:
The most likely cause of this error is that you are using a computer that is behind a firewall. Some anti-virus programs also behave like a firewall, which prevent video traffic over your Internet connection. Contact your network administrator to see if you can have the firewall temporarily disabled for your computer, or if you can have access to a computer that is not behind the corporate firewall. If you are connecting from home:
Some anti-virus programs also behave like a firewall, which prevent video traffic over your Internet connection. You may need to disable the firewall settings of your antivirus program during viewing of the videos.
If you are connecting from hotels:
Many hotels offer free Internet service that makes use of proxy servers. Because of this, viewing a streaming video may be less than optimal during your stay.
