Question:

Issue with Windows Vista and blackboard.

Answer:

Blackboard Inc. has not certified Windows Vista with any version of the Blackboard online learning system. Their development team is looking to certify Windows Vista with a future release of Blackboard.

There are several compatibility issues with Windows Vista and Blackboard. Most notably, users with Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 7 will not be able to use the Visual Text Box editor in the Discussion Board, or other areas of Blackboard that use this feature. For instructors, this also includes announcements, content areas, etc.

We recommend using an alternative Internet Browser such as Mozilla Firefox http://www.mozilla.com to access course information. You will still not have access to toolbars on textboxes. You will only be able to use simple text.

Alternatively, you may disable the Visual Text Box Editor within your Personal Settings in Blackboard. Instructions for doing this are available at: http://www.iit-online.iit.edu/main/disable_text_box.pdf .
